The new FF testifies Ferrari’s constant search for innovation and technological improvement. The car four wheel drive system is meant to have the same impact on road cars as it happened for the revolutionary Formula One gearbox introduced by Ferrari in the past. The Ferrari FF proves the company DNA to take up thrilling technological challenges: designing and patenting a four wheel drive system that weights half as much as the traditional one and guarantees great sensitivity and efficiency in slippery conditions, together with a superb safety and driving experience. Ferrari engineers tested the FF performance in all climate conditions around the world, including a snowy track at a height of over 2,000 meters in the Dolomites. The confidence of the FF 660 hp V12 is the result of the technical superiority of the Ferrari system guaranteeing the driver a full traction control. The removal of the central differential and the adoption of a dual gearbox enable in fact the torque to be spread differently and appropriately between all four wheels.
Four-seats are a tradition at Ferrari to the extent that Enzo Ferrari himself regularly drove one. The FF is a genuine four-seater, extremely comfortable and it features a truly revolutionary bold Pininfarina styling. Its excellent power-to-weight ratio is reflected in its improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. And by adjusting the manettino dial on the steering wheel, the driver will discover incredible adaptability regardless of the conditions in which the car is being used. The versatile FF’s luggage compartment can accommodate unimaginably bulky items.
The FF is the Ferrari’s first four wheels drive car, though purists have nothing to fear: it is in rear drive most of the time and the desired weight distribution front-to-rear (47%/53%) is unaffected despite its mighty V12 engine sitting upfront. The way it negotiates slippery corners is uncanny. Unlike any conventional AWD car, the FF does without an additional prop shaft to the front wheels and all its attendant mechanicals, using instead what Ferrari calls a “power transfer unit”. This mechanism weighs just 45 kg. In “Comfort” or “Sport” mode, the FF optimizes the available traction so seamlessly that you simply cannot tell what it is occurring on your behalf. Progress is not just perfectly controlled, it is thrilling too. The car’s electronics are so clever that they even monitor what sort of grip is going to be available during the braking and turn-in phase of the driving experience, and react accordingly once you are there.
The Ferrari FF represents a technological revolution for Ferrari and the car industry. Contact Ferrari Beverly Hills for any inquiries or information about the FF or Ferrari California.
The acclaimed, new Ferrari 458 Italia Spider has been revealed in the web last August 23th and will debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show in September. The new 458 Spider is the world’s very first mid-rear engine V8 with a retractable hard top, featuring the uncompromising technological enhancements, handling and performance seen in the multi award winning Ferrari 458 Italia.
Patented by Ferrari, the 100% aluminum hard top weights 25 Kg (approximately 55 pounds) less than a traditional soft-top, it deploys in only 14 seconds and, when lowered, it fits neatly ahead of the engine bay without compromising aerodynamics or car performance. The reduced space needed to house the roof enables the designers to include an extensive rear bench for luggage behind the seats.
The 458 Spider is powered by Ferrari’s 570 HP direct injection 4.5 liters V8, nominated the 2011 International Engine of the Year thanks to its engineering excellence in terms of performance, drivability, refinement and economy. Ferrari engineers developed a special rear silencer to obtain the right mix between intake and exhaust, in order to meet drivers’ sound expectations when driving top down. The 458 Italia Spider featured Ferrari’s dual clutch F1 paddle shift transmission, E-Diff, F1-Trac traction control and high performance ABS to guarantee superior handling dynamics.
The new Ferrari 458 Italia Spider has been designed to ensure superior handling and driving dynamics in its class. Among the engineering solutions implemented, the strengthening to the six extrusions and the introduction of structural buttresses contributed to significantly increase the car structural rigidity compared to the F430 Spider. The 458 Italia Spider benefits also from an ideal weight balance of 42% over the front axle and 58% over the rear one.
Overall, aerodynamic efficiency is improved by 12% over the predecessor model, the F430 Spider. The result has been achieved mainly thanks to the buttresses design and the roof double curving, which allow optimizing the clutch and gearbox oil radiators as well as the air flow to the rear engine cover intakes without compromise the engine breathing and cooling.
The 458 Spider features the electric glass wind-stop which it is adjustable in height and provides ideal protection for the driver and a passenger even at higher speed. When opening the roof, the wind-stop in fact automatically adjusts its position for optimal comfort and in-cabin noise control.
The new technical solutions adopted for the 458 Italia chassis guarantee equal levels of structural rigidity with the roof up or down. The result is a car truly exciting to drive, which blends superior performance with the responsiveness that has always characterized Ferrari’s open-top berlinettas.
As every Ferrari, the 458 Spider has a unique design approach and technology innovations to achieve indisputable performance and driving experience. Inquiry about the Ferrari 458 Italia today.
The 599 GTO achieves benchmark performances thanks also to its new carbon ceramic CCM2 brakes which are lighter and more efficient than the previous version ones. The new brakes guarantee optimal performance and stability even under extreme driving conditions and secure exceptionally high fade resistance despite their lighter construction.
The replacement of the system’s resin brake pads with a new carbon ceramic material ensures better performance when applying the brakes the first time from cold, thus guaranteeing a more consistent pedal response. This boosts the system predictive accuracy and ability to intervene. The carbon-ceramic pads also ensure that the chemical and physical structure do not change even at the highest operating temperatures. The CCM2 system’s constant coefficient of friction allows developing a calibrated ABS for high performance. ABS and CCM2 work in tandem in order to cut acceleration times and deliver shorter stopping distances. The wheel doughnuts, a special F1-derived fairings system, have been employed inside the wheel rim in order to improve aerodynamics ad braking efficiency by optimizing the brake cooling.
The car-driver interface has been designed to maximize the car performance and allow the driver to constantly and easily keep under control the car status and driving behavior. This has been achieved by a functional displacement of the main vehicle’s commands that guarantee absolute efficiency and minimum distraction to the driver. The constant monitoring of brake, tires and engine unit is essential for professional drivers as well as for the less expert ones. The ergonomics have been designed to achieve the maximum driving performance from the vehicle both on the track and on the road.
The racing manettino firmly puts the emphasis on sport driving typical of the track and offers the driver greater freedom of configuring the car electronic control system parameters. The CT setting deactivates the traction control and gives the driver maximum freedom without preventing the ESP to get activated in the most challenging situations. The control systems can be deactivated guarantying a balanced handling under any driving conditions or surfaces.
The five options are: LOW GRIP for slippery surfaces; SPORT for good grip conditions; RACE for maximum performance in optimal driving conditions which is particularly suited on the track; CT for maximum driving enjoyment under ideal grip circumstances. CST (Stability and Traction Control) allows to deactivate all electronic control systems leaving the driver absolute freedom in his driving on the race track.
The 599 GTO features the Virtual Race Engineer (VRE), a system monitoring the vehicle status and that immediately update the driver on the car performance. Another GTO characteristic is the carbon fiber F1 paddles for an easier, distraction-free usage under higher speed.
As every Ferrari, the 458 Italia has a unique design approach and technology innovations to achieve indisputable performance and driving experience. Inquiry about the Ferrari 458 Italia and current inventory at Ferrari Beverly Hills.
